Passages from BORDER TOWN

Willie T gripped the sides of the empty chair with both hands. He pulled it out from the table and paused. The veins stood out from his knuckles to his wrist. For all the world, it seemed he was about to bash in the Sheriff’s head.

Danny rose from the chair and took a few steps toward the door. He stopped to say, “And, I’m telling you again, you fool, this is not situation normal. I can’t control the entire town’s anger. If they come for blood, it might not be for the man with all the guards and guns. I’d watch my back if I were you.”

TOWN

Excerpts
