Book 2 of the BORDER TOWN Series
Excerpt from Secrets....
Newt stepped forward. “I’m the sheriff of this town, and you’re in it. I’ll look at, talk to, or interrogate, anybody I damn well please.” He stared back and forth at Memo and Jose. “You will tell me what your intent is in this town, or I will throw you out of it. You get me?”

The man smiled at the sheriff and spoke first. “Sorry to barge in like this, but from what I hear, you need me.”
Newt squinted at the man. “Need you? Do I know you?”
The man looked past Newt at the two uniformed officers seated on the other side of the glass wall. He studied them for a moment, then eyed the sheriff again and said, “Yes, you definitely need me.”

“Dad knows, you know, and now, I know. We can keep it between us or tell everybody. I’d like to fix this on the low-low. Either way, your ass is coming back with me.” Newt stepped back and gave his brother some room to process.
Junior hung his head. He slowly made his way to his truck and leaned against it.
After several long minutes, he wiped tears from his eyes, and meekly uttered, “All right, I’ll go.”
